If I have learned anything in my life so far, it has been that you have to do the things that make your heart sing. The things that make you want to get out of bed each morning, the things that make you giggle, that inspire you, the things that light you up. When you don’t, it is like a part of you is already dead.
I was just reading a blog post on The Bright Path website titled the Roller-coaster dream (well worth a read). It is about a guy who love love loved roller coasters and it was his dream to work as a roller-coaster designer. As you can imagine there is not a huge number of roles for people like this but obviously that doesn’t matter because he is now doing his dream job.
Because he was willing to commit fully to what his heart wanted, willing to ignore the doubts and I am guessing there were lots of them, and to just go for it.
When it comes down to it, don’t we have more to lose by not following our dreams. I look at the life I have right at this moment and you know what – it’s pretty darn good. I have a beautiful family and wonderful friends and a level of peace and knowing of myself that I never thought was possible. But I am not doing what I love and my heart is definitely not singing – well not a happy song.
What about you? Have you found your song?
So it’s time to jump on my own roller-coaster and write that song my heart has been waiting for. And yes, I am freaking out just a little because I don’t have any idea how it is going to turn out. The control freak in me wants to delete this post immediately but the adventurous – make this life count – play full out – ME, can’t do that.
What is my roller-coaster? It is writing, travelling, meditating and sharing the stories of women from all around the world. My intention is that all women (including myself) get to experience loving who they are in every moment. That they get their own value and self worth, and in doing so, enable their daughters to also get it.
I would love to hear about your song. Maybe we can get a whole choir going!!
