Love

I have had a love – hate relationship with my body for a long time now. But something has changed for me. I don’t know why, I don’t know how, it just has.

I love my forty one year old body with wrinkly hands, the hair that will not do what it is told, the freckly skin, my short legs and the extra padding in the rear. I love that I can look at my naked body in the mirror and appreciate what a fine piece of engineering it is. I am blown away by what it can do. It enables me to walk, run, think, make decisions about anything and everything, hold pants up, read, watch movies, breastfeed, hug my children, touch my husband’s cheek, look at beautiful things, cry, feel, giggle, kick things, give birth, write, ski, eat…

Wow, this really is a body worth loving.
