I have talked about writing, about being a writer, about becoming a writer, about wanting to write for as long as I can remember. I have just turned 40 which for me was not a pleasant experience, I think because I am scared of spending the next 40 years continuing to talk about what I want to do instead of actually doing it.
My academy award winning screenplay will not get out of my head all by itself, no matter how much I wish for it. It is time for me to be uncomfortable, terrified even and give it a go.
I read a brilliant quote by Mark Twain last night which helped inspire me to start this blog –
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the tradewinds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
And so it begins… right here, write now.
